Or Maybe You Just Got Lucky?!

The truth behind success we don’t talk about.

You know what I’m tired of?

People never crediting luck for their success. Like, why don’t more people say “I’m baffled by how I got here, because I did the same shit millions of people do, but somehow I was the one who made it.”

We’ve all heard the classics: “Luck favors the prepared,” “Success comes to those who hustle.” Sure, there’s truth in that. Hard work matters. But let’s not pretend that’s the whole story.

There’s an unsung hero behind nearly every success story—good ol’ fashioned LUCK.

Yes, hard work plays a crucial role. But that’s just one slice of the pie that gets all the praise. What about the rest?

Completely out of your control.

Like:

• The family you were born into

• The timing of certain events

• Natural talents that just happened to be there and then got nurtured

• Where you grew up

• Your social status

• Your physical appearance

• Even your temperament

…I mean, I could keep going.

Why don’t we talk about luck as much as we talk about other parts?

Because if someone admitted how many things had to line up just right for their success to unfold—if they said, “Hey, I actually got really lucky”—they wouldn’t be able to sell you a $997 course on how to “manifest your dream life.”

They wouldn’t have a formula to peddle.

They’d just have… reality.

And reality is messy. Unpredictable. Full of chance.

Again, I’m not saying hard work doesn’t matter. It absolutely does. Most successful people have worked hard. But you know who else works hard? A lot of people who never get the recognition, wealth, or opportunities they deserve. Because life isn’t fair. Hustle doesn’t guarantee success. Sometimes, it’s about being in the right place, with the right resources, at the right time—and that’s luck.

We all rewrite rewrite our stories in hindsight. We tend to stitch together a clean narrative with neat little steps—like it was all planned. But in the moment? We had no clue how it would turn out. In reality, most of us are just trying things that make sense to us until something sticks.

We want answers. We want to believe that if we just follow the steps, we’ll get the same result. But life doesn’t work like that.

Success isn’t a vending machine. You don’t always get what you put in.

So here’s my point:

Let’s be honest. Luck exists.

Unfair advantages exist.

And not everyone gets a fair shot, no matter how hard they work.

That doesn’t mean you stop trying. But maybe it means you can accept it’s not all on you.

Enjoy the process. Show up for what feels meaningful. And remember: not everything is in your control and that’s not a flaw, it’s just life.
