Your Lack of Energy Isn’t Random. It’s a Soul SIgnal
Have you ever paid attention to how some things make you feel instantly alive, lit up, curious, engaged, like your whole body says “YES” to it in an instant, while others leave you flat, numb, and drained just at the thought of them?
What if that’s not random, lazy, or something to be changed, but something to be followed and listened to.
There’s a quiet, sacred intelligence in the way our energy moves. A kind of inner compass that pulls back when something isn’t right for us and leans in when something is.
But we’ve been taught to ignore this. To push through. To force motivation. To override the body’s signals in favor of what makes sense on paper, or what other people say we should want.
And then we wonder why we feel disconnected, stuck, or uninspired.
When Psyche Withdraws Energy
In Jungian psychology, there’s a belief that the psyche is always seeking wholeness. And when something in your life doesn’t serve that, when it’s off-course, inauthentic, or not truly yours, the psyche withdraws its energy.
Not as punishment. As protection. As guidance.
You might feel bored. Tired. Apathetic. You might keep trying to make it work. But the deeper part of you has already started unplugging.
That flatness? That fog? It’s your soul saying: this isn’t it.
Life Force Doesn’t Lie
In many spiritual traditions, life force energy—called qi, prana, or simply vitality is seen as sacred. It naturally flows toward what is true, aligned, and life-giving. And it recedes when we’re out of alignment.
You don’t have to talk yourself into the right thing. You don’t need a five-step plan to chase your purpose. When something is for you, there’s often a felt sense of energy, a quiet yes, a natural propulsion.
Even if it’s hard. Even if it’s stretching you.
There’s still life in it. Meaning in it.
Energy Is the Compass
We’re so used to measuring success by how hard we push. But what if ease of energy is a more honest signal than effort?
What if the things you keep trying to force are simply not yours to carry?
What if your lack of motivation is actually a form of guidance?
The Body Knows
Your nervous system is always scanning for safety, truth, and resonance.
When something is aligned, your body tends to move toward it: curious, open, regulated.
When something isn’t, you may feel shutdown, heavy, tense, or strangely indifferent.
The body is honest.
The body doesn’t perform.
The body doesn’t care what looks good or sounds impressive. It cares about what’s real.
What Energizes You is Not Random
That spark you feel around certain people? That energy when you’re thinking about an idea? That ease and clarity when you’re doing something you love?
That’s not coincidence, but resonance.
We often try to problem-solve the wrong things. We try to get more motivated for things that deaden us, instead of asking:
What would it look like to trust the things that make me come alive?
A Simple Practice
Start here:
Notice what energizes you vs. what drains you. Pay attention to your body after conversations, tasks, choices.
Name the moments of natural curiosity, aliveness, or ease.
Distinguish between fear and flatness. Fear might mean something is new but meaningful. Flatness is soul withdrawal.
Ask yourself regularly: Where is my energy flowing freely? Where is it pulling back?
And then honor that.
Not everything that’s good for you will feel exciting right away—but your life force knows. It’s whispering to you all the time. About what’s true. About what’s yours. About where your vitality wants to go.
Don’t ignore it. Don’t shame it.
Follow it.
