There is no one right way to live your life, but there is a way that is meant just for you! Therapy can help you gain courage and trust in yourself, so you can live intentionally and meaningfully.

MY APPROACH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY

Picture
I provide depth-focused psychotherapy and work from a trauma-informed, relational perspective. My general focus is to help you understand yourself better and create a deeper connection to your internal experience, so you can come to a place of choice and personal freedom. This way you don't have to keep repeating experiences that keep you in old, outdated identities, but rather, you're able to be your true self. Together, we will look to uncover the patterns that hinder you from moving forward and growing beyond your current circumstances.

As we move through life, we develop patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. These patterns help us adapt and survive in the environment we live, but as we grow, we continue relying on these patterns instead of replacing them with new, more useful "tools."

Difficulties in life arise when we (unknowingly) trying to navigate current challenges with old perspectives and strategies that were once helpful. It is as if you're using an outdated map to find your way around new terrain.

I have a non-pathologizing view of a human experience and I'm guided by curiosity to understand your internal world rather than strictly relying on labels. I believe that each person has a unique story and we are far too complex to be relying on manualized and rigid ways of thinking.

CONCERNS I HELP WITH

People come to therapy for a variety of reasons...

Sometimes those reasons are quite obvious to you, because they're sparked by abrupt changes in your life. At other times, it may be difficult to name, verbalize, and pinpoint the exact reason for an ailment other than understanding something is just not right. One reason for seeking therapy is not better than any other. I welcome those who know what hurts and those who can't quite understand what that is.  The only requirement for seeking therapy in my book, is curiosity. Curiosity about self, about one's life, and about one's experiences.

Many of my clients who seek psychotherapy are introspective about their internal world, want to understand themselves on a deeper level, and are longing to free themselves from past experiences and conditioning. In our sessions, you will have the opportunity to slow down, process your experiences, and learn how to rely on yourself to make choices that will support your growth. This is the first step towards freedom to choose how you want to show up in the world.

These are the common concerns I work with.
