When you authentically want something, the desire in itself is your permission to pursue it. It doesn’t have to be analyzed or explained with logic, because true desire comes from the heart. It doesn’t have to be approved by others because it was meant for you to realize. Consider: What desire would you pursue if you gave yourself permission to do so? Living authentically and honoring yourself may involve making decisions others judge or disapprove of.
Let people have opinions and judgments. Let people not understand your decisions. Others have the right to think, judge, and believe whatever they want. You can’t change that. The need to change people’s opinions of us and gain their approval is a futile task. And it simply doesn’t matter. What matters is whether you will allow yourself to live your truth, even if others don’t understand it or judge it. The only person who’s permission, understanding, and approval you need, is you. Challenges are not an invitation to quit, but to step into a different version of you. A version of you that is willing to:
Is there a challenge that keeps coming up for you over and over again? How is it inviting you to show up? Don't worry about: How long it will take. Whether it will be difficult. If it will be worth it. Because: Where exactly are you rushing to? It’s going to take as long as it needs to. Anticipating that it may be difficult is not a reason not to try. It will be worth it, because even if it doesn’t turn out how you expected, it will change you. If you are using an arbitrary timeline to judge yourself for:
It’s time to let it go! Just because we expect things would happen a certain way and at a certain time, doesn’t mean they will. And judging ourselves won’t change any of it. It will just add more misery to the mix. If your expectations are making you miserable, why hold onto them? Drop them like a hot potato! When things don’t turn out quite like you expected they would, approach life with more curiosity.
Let yourself be surprised! |
